Cell Isolation

General Sample Processing Tips for Human /Mouse Samples

Human

 Samples :

•Peripheral Blood, Buffy Coat, Mobilized Blood, Bone Marrow, Cord Blood

Anticoagulants:

   •Sodium Citrate (ACD), Heparin, EDTA

•ACD is better for older blood (> 24 hrs). EDTA is only good for fresh blood (<24 hrs), as high concentration of EDTA can affect cell viability.

Donor info, frequency of cell types, and storage conditions:

•Store blood at RT (not in fridge) for up to 3 days. Some cells have a lifespan of a max. 24 hrs outside the body (i.e. Dendritic cells, plasma cells, granulocytes).

Mouse

Samples
  •Peripheral Blood, Spleen, Bone Marrow

Anticoagulants:

•Not required for Spleen or Bone Marrow

•ACD, EDTA or Heparin for Blood

Donor info, frequency of cell types, and storage conditions:

•Storage of mouse samples longer than 24 hours is not recommended.
